We have a very clear vision: a world where people's lives are no longer limited by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Story

Alfie and Arthur are the nephews of Ben Mashiter, a teacher at Unity Academy Blackpool.

The fun loving, cheeky and caring brothers were diagnosed with the muscle wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2009. Now, at ages 10 and 13 they are wheelchair users who depend on their loving parents, Jenny and Tony, for all their needs. They face an extremely challenging and uncertain future, with a limited life expectancy with no cure yet being found. The boys are extremely brave and have numerous visits to specialist hospitals across the country, where they entertain all those who meet them with their fantastic sense of humour and cheeky smiles. They love nothing more than a trip out to Cambridge to buy a new game for their Xbox and enjoy a hot dog from the Cambridge Sausage man. They know how to live the life!

Myself, Tony and other members of the Blackpool Teaching Community are walking the National 3 peaks in 24 hours to raise money for Action Duchenne, a fantastic charity who are racing against the clock to find a cure for this cruel condition. Every single pound and penny donated is truly appreciated and will make a difference to all the boys diagnosed with DMD across the UK.
