Story
We are a team of 11 Grads working at Atkins, who have come together for a singular and vital goal; to try to push ourselves and each other to our physical limits over the course of 48 hours, all in support of a charity that has been doing amazing work all over the globe for over 40 years. Succinctly, we will be going far, for RedR.
The aim is simple. By any form of exercise we deem most appropriate, be it by foot, water, bicycle or else, we have set a simple challenge to other teams of grads like us: cover more distance on the weekend of the 19th of December than we do. The winning team will be able bask in their smug superiority for all of eternity, but it is not for personal pride that we undertake this venture. No, this is all in support of RedR.
Aiming to rebuild lives in times of disaster, RedR offer relief in the most perilous and life-changing situations. They focus their efforts on building capacity and reducing risk for communities who are most vulnerable to natural and man-made disasters. They aim to train aid agencies to improve the lives of people dealing with humanitarian crises, ranging from earthquakes to famines to conflict. We feel they are making the world a better place, and we want to help in whatever small way we can.
To supplement our flagship 48-hour endurance challenge, we will be hosting activities such as raffles, quizzes and online classes, both to raise money for RedR, as well as raise awareness of both the charity and our epic challenge. We are grateful for any and all support we receive, and hope you agree with us that this is a cause that we all can give something in aid of.
We hope to inspire everyone to Go far for RedR.
