Wolf Run · 13 April 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. On Sunday 14 April 2019, ‘Team Howlers’, a seven-strong team of friends will attempt to conquer the Wolf Run in Warwickshire, a hardcore 10km run tackling a combination of mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs.
We have set ourselves this challenge in support of Chase Terrace Technology College in Burntwood, who are seeking to raise £50,000 to upgrade the lift in the main school building.
Selina Morgan (Business Manager at Chase Terrace Technology College), Kelly Gilleland, Ruth Pickering, Charlotte and Mark Shutt and Danni and Neil Mullen are all passionate about supporting Dan Ball, a year 8 student who has a rare genetic condition. Dan suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which is a degenerative muscle wasting disease which is life limiting and requires the use of an electric wheelchair to move around school. The money raised will support in
the replacement of a lift, helping him access art, computing and other lessons on the first floor with his friends.
Dan is a typical teenager with the added complications that his condition brings. We are passionate about providing Dan with an environment where he can live, love, laugh and learn, the same as all of our other students and not let his condition define him. We asked Dan what this means to him and he said:
“having the new lift would improve my school life drastically. I will be independent. It will allow me to access the same places as my peers so I’m not excluded from some lessons. It will make me feel as a wheelchair user that my wheelchair does not limit me in terms of where I can go. It will also put worries of stressing teachers out by moving downstairs at ease. Most importantly however, it means others who need the lift as well as me will also be able to access lessons upstairs and have independence”.
We are aiming to reach a minimum of £500. Your generosity and support will be highly appreciated by all of us and we will be forever grateful for any donation, no matter how small. Thank you for supporting a cause which is very close to our hearts.
