Story
In July 2020 my mum was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a condition of the brain and spinal cord where the immune system attacks the nerve endings of healthy parts of the body which slows down or stops information from the brain. Common symptoms of MS include extreme fatigue and mobility and co-ordination problems. My mum was diagnosed with Relapse Remitting MS which means her symptoms relapse for an unpredictable amount of time and then she goes into remission afterwards.
There is currently no cure for this condition which means fundraising events like the 10 in 10 challenge are so important. A group of us will be attempting a 16.1 mile walk in the Lake District, tackling 10 peaks in 10 hours. The 10 peaks include: Causey Pike, Sail, Crag Hill, Wandope, Whiteless Pike, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Dale Head, High Spy and Maiden Moor.
The money that we raise is vital for future research, support and advice for those who suffer from this condition.
£5 donation = laboratory essentials like petri dishes, latex gloves
£50 donation = 10 calls to the MS Society helpline so they can be there for those who need it
£1000 raised = Run an MRI scanner for four hours, providing details that help us to understand the cause of MS and a step closer to finding a cure.
Any donation no matter how small will go a long way!
Thank you.
