Peak District Challenge · 22 September 2017 to 23 September 2017 ·

Kiota is a kitchen table charity that supports a small secondary school in Tanzania for young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity of an education beyond primary school, with a focus on girls. Help us to raise our students' chances of a safe and secure future.

Story

The KIWOHEDE Open School, which Kiota supports, doesn't have enough funding secured for 2018. Kiota's largest fundraiser is at Glastonbury Festival, where the festival supports Kiota in exchange for volunteers litter-picking and recycling. Due to the festival's fallow year in 2018, Kiota has a significant shortfall. Without additional funds Kiota won't have enough to keep the school open for all of 2018.

Katie, Richard and Pippa are attempting to walk 50km in one day (23rd September 2017) and Kirsty and Craig are walking the 25km challenge. Will you sponsor us to help keep the KIWOHEDE Open School open?

  • £56 pays for a teacher's salary for a week
  • £40 pays for all of the students to have breakfast for a day
  • £25 funds a set of school books
  • Any amount will contribute to vital running costs, including stationary, exam fees, clean water, electricity and security staff to provide a safe environment for vulnerable young people.

Kiota is a kitchen table UK charity, working with KIWOHEDE, a Tanzanian organisation working for the rights, health and development of women and children in Tanzania. We are currently supporting the education of 120 students at the KIWOHEDE Open School. As well as providing secondary education, the school aims to prevent early marriage, unwanted pregnancy, child prostitution, dangerous child labour and gang involvement, and targets those most at risk of abuse and hazardous labour. Your support will help our students choose their own futures.
