Langar Aid Project By Khalsa Aid International

Langar Aid is a project by international humanitarian aid organisation Khalsa Aid International, an initiative which focuses on fighting hunger worldwide.
Providing vital food & water in emergencies where it is needed the most to save the lives of victims of natural disasters, wars and civil conflicts.

Our mission is to serve and support the homeless, vulnerable and isolated around England. We aim to strengthen the communities by providing emergency food and supportive services.

Langar Aid does not just feed hunger, we offer non-judgmental help support and trust. We set up an environment where people feel safe, comfortable, and most importantly valued.

For over the past three years, Langar Aid have been providing fresh hot nutritious meals to the homeless, isolated and vulnerable alongside dropping off meals to many hostels around Coventry and other locations in the West Midlands on a weekly basis. Our meals
consist of a full vegetarian meal such as hot chips, jacket potatoes with
various fillings such as beans, cheese or coleslaw, cake and custard pudding, dahl, rice and naan bread.

We deliver food to individuals who we know are in a vulnerable state and supply breakfast food items to churches, schools and other organisations that run breakfast clubs.

Food Distribution Centre

Every Tuesday we provide food packages to individuals/families who need support towards food rations. These food packages are based on basic referrals and Langar Aid vouchers forwarded by organisations
such as WATCH and the Job Centre. The packages consist of basic food items such as milk, teabags, cereal, bread, fruit and vegetables etc. We will be expanding into a distribution centre for our teams around England and also being able to distribute food items to groups and charities around the region on a larger scale.

Support, Skills and Activities

The centre will be open to provide service users with life skills and educational skills which will work towards helping them into getting
their life together. They will be given the opportunity to learn new recipes
enabling them to cook independently at home. We will support communities by holding more pop up cafes around Coventry
with the support of the community police and organisations such as CRISIS, CRC, Salvation Army etc to provide on site advice to individuals similar to the current Police project running in the City Centre.

Langar Aid has grown and expanded its outreach work to major towns and cities.The initiative has been so successful that the team are now integrated into the West Midlands Task Force and Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Resilience Team.
