Story

UPDATE 17/06/21 :

Thank you for the incredible response to this fundraising campaign. Having achieved our preliminary target that will keep our team together for the next four weeks, we would like to stretch this effort to try and support the team for a further eight weeks. Having that funding would mean that we can continue to offer venues support whatever future decisions made by the government about 19 July reopening. It means we can support venues with any challenges they face, and support them to reopen if the opportunity is there. We've had huge feedback from venues about how important this support is to ensure we Reopen Every Venue Safely.

We've already climbed so many mountains since COVID hit... so we're going to climb one more.

On Monday 21 June, a team of 8 staff from Music Venue Trust will be climbing the O2 as many times as possible in one hour to raise the funds we need to continue with our next phase of work.

With the Government's announcement that grassroots music venues in England will not be allowed to fully reopen as planned on 21 June, over 700 Grassroots Music Venues who have struggled to survive the pandemic are once again facing insecurity.

At the start of the pandemic, MVT recruited regional coordinators to offer personalized one-to-one support for each and every venue in our membership. This support ranges from being updated on all of the latest guidance on running a covid-compliant business to help in applying for grants from local authorities and the Arts Council. These coordinators have been absolutely fundamental in our strategy to protect and secure GMVs at this critical time- and now we will need to keep them on in order to help venues through the next four weeks.

Our fundraising total of £6,000 is the amount needed to pay for our coordinators to stay working for venues for the next four weeks. Please help us in our continued mission to save venues from permanent closure.
