Triathlon
Sally, Dave, Blair, Peter, Amrish, Helen, Aki and Kate (Team Papilio) are doing a leg each of a triathlon to raise awareness and money for Surrey Young Carers (SYC).
Friday 13th April (unlucky for some) - Cake Sale, Raffle and the running/swimming leg!!
Dave/Blair - Cycle from Chichester to Redhill - 80km
Sally - To swim a mile - 64 lengths of 25m pool
Kate/Peter/Amrish/Helen/Aki - To run the up & down the Lombard stairs - the equivalent of the Gherkin - 591ft.
We aim to raise £3,000 which will hopefully allow SYC to take an extra 12 children to a summer festival in Southampton in June. At the moment SYC budget only allows them to take 12 children (out of 180 young carers registered with them in Surrey).
Who are Young Carers?
'Young carers are children and young persons under 18 who provide or intend to provide care, assistance or support to another family member. They carry out, often on a regular basis, significant or substantial caring tasks and assume a level of responsibility which would usually be associated with an adult. The person receiving care is often a parent but can be a sibling, grandparent or other relative who is disabled, has some chronic illness, mental health problem or other condition connected with a need for care, support or supervision.'

Please dig deep into those pockets and let's help make a difference to these children's lives by allowing them to be children if only for a short period of time. A HUGE thanks in advance!!! :-)
