A Day of Wilderness
Campaign by Sky's the Limit Fund (RCN 272592172)
A Day of Wilderness is an opportunity to come together as a community to support youth and young adults struggling with mental health and addiction challenges and to raise awareness about the benefits of wilderness therapy.

Story

Sky's the Limit Fund (STLF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to making wilderness therapy accessible to families who cannot afford it and to providing coaching services to guide families during the transition home. Since 2010, STLF has impacted and transformed the lives of 930+ youth and young adults in crisis.

In honor of "A Day of Wilderness", we have created this page as an opportunity to come together as a community to support youth and young adults struggling with mental health and addiction challenges and to raise awareness about the benefits of wilderness therapy. Together, we can educate others and stress the importance of making this transformative experience accessible to all youth and young adults in crisis. Please consider making a donation or sharing this page with your community.

Testimonials:

“The support from STLF made it possible for us to even consider Wilderness Therapy…STLF made it possible to get our daughter the much-needed help. Today she is thriving and doing much better. -Wilderness Therapy Parent

Our Staff and Board Members share "A Day of Wilderness" with pictures (see photo gallery, click top right of cover image) and comments on how they honor the day.

  • "My day of wilderness will be spent out on the Monterey Bay on my paddle board... Unplugged and tuned in to mother nature. This is my happy place. My Zen." - Alexis King
  • “Spending Sunday, March 20 with my daughter, Sophie, disconnected from our digital worlds and connected to the beautiful wilderness of the Northwest – and especially each other.  Looking forward to an amazing day!” - Kyra Kuhn
  • "I'm picking a day between March 15th and April 30th to honor "A Day of Wilderness". That day will be about time to be unplugged and having some good conversations with my kids while enjoying the outdoors (probably the beach!)." - Nina Chan
  • "A relaxing way to end a long day...out for a walk with crazy Duke. Fresh air and physical activity energize the mind and soul." - Debbie Roelands
  • "I will never think of Wilderness the same after having to send my son to the Utah desert in the dead of winter. Wilderness can be a place to focus and reflect inward or it can be a place to see what wonderment and magic surrounds us. Either way breathing deeper and feeling connection to something larger than ourselves happens naturally." - Tara Saul
  • " I love the peace and calm that hiking on the trails brings me. I can unplug from the world and just enjoy the beauty of the trees. If I am fortunate, I run into some deer and watch how effortlessly they can navigate the steep sides of the hills." - Lisa Cendejas
  • "Being outdoors on hikes with my dog Scruffy has provided me with endless opportunities to create special memories with her. I enjoy the peace and calm of being on the trails and watching her explore." - Sarah Wallace (Lisa's daughter)
  • “I’m not one for sleeping under the stars, but I do get my wilderness on while in the mountains. No cell phone or vertical feet checking while on the chair lift. I simply revel in the majesty of the vistas and the allure of nature”. - Lani Dorff
  • "I am doubly blessed as I am motivated to hike in La Honda many weekends with my husband Chris and German Shepard Rio as well as participate in outdoor adventures with our students at Palo Alto Prep. This month we are spending 4 days in Pinnacles National Park, hiking, camping and singing around a campfire." - Lisa O'Hearn-Keck
