Isla’s been fighting high-risk neuroblastoma since her first birthday. She is lively, happy, playful and bubbly, and enjoys playing with her twin sister, Lottie and older brother, Finn.

Story

Isla (Nikki's niece) is 2 and was diagnosed with High Risk, Stage IV Neuroblastoma on her 1st birthday. This is a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer (which has been much publicised recently in the case of Bradley Lowery).

Under the amazing team at Great Ormond Street, Isla has faced gruelling and extensive treatments, including chemo, high-dose chemo, stem cell transplants, immunotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, radiotherapy, as well as major surgery .

The great news is that Isla has been responding well to these treatments, but her treatment in the UK is coming to an end and the possibility of relapse with Neuroblastoma is very high. The plain fact is that if Isla relapses, there's a 1 in 10 survival rate. Her parents have chosen to join the The Bivalent Vaccine Clinical Trial at The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York which is focused on the prevention of relapse.

Accessing this trial is not NHS funded so we are helping raise the £155,000 required for this.

To support this fundraising campaign Texelians are pounding the pavements and together covering 3,459 miles - the distance from London to New York. We will be running, walking, rowing, cycling and swimming these miles in January. We will also have a broker cycling race team A racing from London to Cambridge and team B from London to Brighton as well as a Thames path walk of up to 80 miles. You can see our progress at www.helpisla.com

Thank you so much for visiting our page and for any support you can offer.
