Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

In June 2014,  our friends, Sam and Sue Taylor’s son Will Taylor was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a severe muscle wasting condition for which there is no treatment or cure. Will is now 10 years old, and the condition is impacting on his mobility and his life. We are raising funds for research into this condition, so it may be able to make a difference for Will and other children his age.

In a bid to help in finding an effective treatment for Will, his Mum and Dad, Sue and Sam, have set up another challenge - this time quite a  unique one - the Longest Steepest Highest Quadrathlon.

On day 1 we will Swim 1 mile and then Kayak 12 miles in Windermere; the longest Lake in England. Immediately afterwards we will cycle from Waterhead to Wasdale Head, riding over Wrynose Pass and then Hardnott Pass; the Steepest Road in England with a gradient up to 33%.

After an overnight stay, we will finish by running or walking from Wasdale Head to Great Langdale over Scafell Pike; the Highest Mountain in England at 978 metres.

This is yet again a mammoth challenge and Gav and I are aiming to complete all of it together. In addition to adults taking on this challenge, our children Joel and Erin, along with their friend Beth, Will’s older sister, will be completing the same challenge but over the course of 3 weekends.

Please support the team that is taking on this incredible challenge and donate if you can. All of the money that is raised will fund research into treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy through the Muscular Dystrophy UK Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.
