We're a charity that improves the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy through specialist therapy, support and information.

Story

Arlo was born in March 2020, his start in life was not easy. After an emergency C-section Arlo was delivered but soon after began to have seizures and spent his first few weeks in NICU at the Royal Hospital for Children.

6 months after his birth Arlo was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, something the hospital had prepared us for since those early few weeks, although knowing this was going to be the likely outcome did not make the official diagnosis any easier to hear!

Since then Arlo has been fighting every day to over come his disability, although we have yet to reach any major milestone such as sitting, walking or talking, his wee personality is shinning bright and he is turning into such a happy, determined little boy!

Arlo is like any other toddler, he loves to get into mischief and loves to be centre of attention. A smile from Arlo will turn any bad day good and we know everything will be okay, it really is infectious and lucky for us he is such a smiler!

Life with CP is not easy, but Arlo has an amazing team of medical experts around him and more recently we have been using the resources available from Cerebral Palsy Scotland to learn more about the condition and how we can give Arlo the best possible start in life and prepare for the future. The work Cerebral Palsy do is so important to Arlo and our family and is a vital resource for anyone in Scotland living with CP, which is why we have chosen to do this challenge to raise important funds for this amazing charity!

About Cerebral Palsy Scotland

We’re a charity that improves the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy through specialist therapy, support and information. We’re ambitious for people with cerebral palsy. For over 25 years our therapists have worked alongside people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers, helping them develop practical skills which transform daily life.Founded by a group of determined parents whose children were unable to get the specialised therapy they needed close to home, we’re the only cerebral palsy charity in Scotland.
