The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

Steve and Eddie are attempting to persuade their £37 Astra "rally" car (which was kindly donated by Richard and Cerys Dowman), across Europe, through France, Switzerland and the Italian countryside.

The expedition takes on some of the finest roads and through mountain passes in their attempt to coax the car on its epic journey and on their goal to reach the finish in Venice.

Steve is raising for the excellent ‘Christie’ Cancer Charity in Manchester. The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds

Professor John Radford, the Director of Research at The Christie.Manchester Cancer Research Centre says:

“The MCRC is our chance to build on life-changing discoveries. By extending our excellent team of scientists, researchers and clinicians - and giving them the most advanced equipment, tools and facilities - we are certain that many more breakthrough are just around the corner”

Eddie is supporting the fantastic ‘Ronald McDonald House’ Charity, next to Birmingham’s Childrens Hospital.  Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent Charity which aims to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.

The new Ronald McDonald House at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is one of the largest purpose built accommodation facilities. As well as providing 61 en suite bedrooms, the Birmingham House offers families the opportunity to cook together, to eat together and share their experiences of the day.

For families coming to the Children’s Hospital for day care, there is also a purpose built lounge, kitchen and play area on the ground floor for their use throughout the day. In 2013, the House helped 1,042 families stay close to their children in hospital.

The House opened in November 2009, but, even though the House has now been built, help is still much needed to raise funds to cover the cost of running the House.

With the Thunder crawl event having a James Bond Theme, ‘Team ASTRA MARTIN’ is go go go.
