Story
On the 4th of September 2015, Team ‘Bike For Mike’, made up of 13 good friends (Gayle Telford, Theo Jenkins, Felix Jenkins, Fran Andrews, Harry Cullis, Harry Parnell, Henry Webster, Serena Pelly, Andy Clegg, Jake Cooper, Alex Strachan, Fred Jacobsen and Rich Kearney) are embarking on cycling the c.200 miles from London to Paris in less than 24 hours in memory of a very special man, Mike Telford. Mike, Gayle’s father, died following a long battle with skin cancer the day after Gayle’s 21st birthday in May 2011. Mike was a huge sports fan and it therefore seems appropriate to honour his memory with a sporting challenge. We have chosen the weekend beginning the 4th of September as it coincides with Mike's birthday.
With a main aim of helping the fight against cancer, over the course of this past year we have been raising money for the British Skin Foundation by arranging a variety of successful events such as a sports day, pub quiz, cricket match and concert culminating in the main event - cycling to Paris in 24 hours. Every donation is going towards this incredibly worthy cause and is hugely appreciated by all of us and the charity by helping toward finding a cure.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and in advance for any donation that you can make to help us reach our target, it will be a massive boost to us and the team in our ongoing training and during the challenge in spurring us on to the finish line before the 24 hours is up!
Many of our friends and families are planning on driving out to Paris to cheer us on at the finish line at the Eiffel Tower – so I am sure photos will be shared in due course of the (hopefully successful!) challenge.
With love and thanks,
Team Bike for Mike x
