MND (Motor Neurone Disease) is a condition where the messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste, which can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also get changes to their thinking and behaviour, but the disease affects everyone differently.
MND is life-shortening and there is no cure.
Colin lived a healthy lifestyle amongst his young family, his diagnosis is confirmation that MND does not discriminate with 1 in 300 at risk of getting the disease in their lifetime. Colin became wheelchair bound often relying on his NIV to assist his breathing difficulties. He is incredibly loved and remained at home with his family until he passed the 17th October 2024 aged 71.
