Welcome to Team Con!
**We are myself (Claire), Daisy, Rory, Karrie, Amy, Susie, Fraser, Katy, Nicola, Jessica and Winter (and Catharine in spirit!)**
In April this year, I lost my most amazing husband when he passed away, aged just 38, due to a brain tumour. Words do not do Con justice, but believe me when I say he was just the most wonderful human being.
The 16 months prior to that, and the time that has past since, have been the most challenging of our lives. Thankfully, I have the best friends ever, who, since the diagnosis in November 2017, have always been there to support the kids and I, whether it’s been a quick whatsapp, coming for a chat or taking the kids out. Even when I’ve not felt like talking, I know they are always there for me. Karrie, Jessica, Susie, Nicola and Catharine – I love you guys so much!
Luckily for me, Con loved my friends just as much as I do. Some of the best memories we have as a team are probably from nights out where Con would be first to offer them a drink, check they were ok, take them for a whizz around the dance floor, and even give them a little bum pinch with a cheeky glint in his eye! We all miss him so much.
On Sunday 13th October, we are walking the 10km Twilight Walk in Edinburgh. This walk isn’t about us though. It’s about our children: Daisy (8), Rory (3), Amy (3), Fraser (8), Katy (6) and Winter (4 months). I know for me, my children have been my motivation every single day. Their resilience has astounded me and inspired me to keep going and make Con proud.
It’s definitely not going to be a quick 10km (and I'm sure there will be a few tantrums along the way!), but we are going to enjoy every single minute of it and Con will be with us all, every step of the way.
Here’s a little message from Daisy and Rory, written by Daisy:
We are doing this walk to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, to help find a cure. This walk is important to us because we really miss our daddy and we don’t want this to happen to any other family. We miss his funny jokes, his big cuddles and wrestling with him! We miss everything about him.
My mummy’s friends have been very supportive by always helping mummy and being there for the whole family. We are going to try our best to walk 10km in memory of our amazing daddy, and will be joined by our friends (plus their mummies too!).
We would love it if you could sponsor us.
Thank you all so much.
