Action for Stammering Children's Strictly Gala · 17 October 2019 ·
Dan and Christine will be donning their dancing shoes and be put to the test in the dance studio for the next few weeks. They will be getting to grips with ballroom dancing in the run up to competing in a charity Strictly Come Dancing event as part of the Action for Stammering Children does Strictly Gala Ball. On the night their dancing skills (or lack of them) will be scrutinised by a celebrity panel of judges, including Strictly's very own Ed Balls, in an attempt to lift that sought after glitter ball. Expect sequins, spandex, sweat, tears, and if all goes well hopefully maybe even a 'seven!' or two.
Dan's previous dance experience doesn't go much further than throwing a few shapes on nights out (what Dan has referred to as 'good dad dancing'). Christine has a fair bit of amateur dance experience, but will be learning a completely new dance style for the event and will have to master dancing in heels... which could be interesting given she can't even walk in them!
All of this will be in the name of the brilliant chairty, Action for Stammering Children. Stammering affects kids of all backgrounds and can impair communication skills, affect educational achievement, and in some cases become a focus for teasing and bullying. Without the right support it can play a significant part in a young person’s ability to achieve their full potential and do all of the things that they want to do in life. And that's where Action for Stammering Children come in. They provide much-needed support to 1000's of children and young people who stammer each year. As a chairty, their goal is to ensure that every child and young person across the UK who stammers has access to effective services and support to help them to meet the challenges that they face, and enabling them to access the same opportunities and quality of life as their peers. Every donation, however small, is massively appreciated and will help support the great work that they do.
