Story

I never imagined I would ever run…… let alone like* running…… but like many of us in lockdown I completed couch to 5K with my 12 year old son. Then……I then completed 5K to couch.

This story starts about 8 weeks ago when my good friend Liam Soffe added me to a WhatsApp group called ‘Birmingham 01/05/2022’……and now with less than 2 weeks to go I might actually be able to do this!

But this run is not about me- it is about an inspiring person- Elizabeth. From the age of 6 months she has demonstrated strength and endurance. Not just with how she and her family have gracefully navigated the past 7 years but how they have looked to support and celebrate others. Over lockdown Elizabeth raised over £200,000 by running a mile a day to complete a marathon. Donating the funds to Birmingham Children's Hospital to invest in a machine which improves scar healing. I would really appreciate if you could help support this amazing family who now are helping others to cope and live with life changing scars.

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.
