Story
In August 2015 James and I were blessed with the birth of our little boy Finley. He arrived early, but otherwise appeared well. When he was only a week old, we discovered he had been born with a serious heart defect - a large VSD and medium ASD (both holes in the heart) which would require open heart surgery to fix. When he was just 9 weeks old weighing only 7lbs, he had his life saving surgery at the Children's Heart Unit and the Freeman Hospital. There are no words that can express how grateful we are to all the staff at the unit, they were incredible throughout. As soon as got our head around the situation, we all vowed that we would do the Great North Run to raise funds for the unit. We are actually the lucky ones, Finley is well and thriving, but so many other babies and families have a much tougher journey ahead of them. It's for THEM that we are doing this, these babies are born fighters and their parents are amazing. The staff at the unit are incredible too. So please sponsor TEAM FINLEY (Finley's Mam Laura, Finley's Dad James, his Granddad Alan and Uncle James) to help us say thank you to the Heart Unit and support other babies like Finley :-)
