Story

Hi, Tess here. I have decided to take it upon myself to organise a team of 51 people to walk 10km for the St John's Hospice as part of #Challenge51 in September. This is the organisation set up by my family to raise £51,000 for Dad's chosen charities by May 2020, by friends and family undertaking 51 challenges. I used to visit my Dad in the hospice throughout December last year and even though at first I was a bit scared going there, the staff always made us feel welcome and I knew they were giving Dad the best treatment possible. Although he was very ill, they did their best to make him feel comfortable. We sometimes would take the dog and walk him outside in the field. Dad had a corner room which meant it was bright and airy and he could look out of the windows and see Milo running around with us chasing after him. He could also see amazing sunrises from his room. Hospices are really expensive places to run and Dad was in the St John's Hospice at Moggerhanger for more than 3 weeks which would have cost a lot of money for the drugs and the doctors and nurses as well as all the equipment, electricity, laundry, food etc. I would like to help fund the treatment of other patients like Daddy who are looked after so well at the hospice. I hope you will help me with this challenge. Just sign up, pay the entry fee and then use your imagination to raise as much money as you can in sponsorship from family and friends or by putting on a cake sale or sponsored silence! Thank you for helping me remember my Dad, I know we will have a lot of laughs along the way! Love, Tess
