Running for Hannah, my brilliant, courageous and fun-loving cousin, who passed away in April after battling triple negative breast cancer.
Hannah was diagnosed last summer aged 31, while pregnant with her first child. But even as she underwent the most gruelling treatment imaginable before and after giving birth, and faced a terminal diagnosis, cancer never touched her indomitable spirit and faith. Her bravery was extraordinary. She will be deeply missed by so many of us for the rest of our lives.
Triple negative breast cancer is highly aggressive, disproportionately affects younger women and remains very hard to treat. A group of us are running the ASICS London 10K in July to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, which funds a dedicated triple negative research unit and trials around the UK, as well as supporting those affected by Breast Cancer.
A lot of words borrowed from the wonderful Emma, Hannah's sister-in-law, who expressed this so much better than I can right now.
