London to Paris Cycle · 7 June 2023 to 11 June 2023 ·

With a new blood cancer diagnosis every 27 seconds worldwide, Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials. This support drives global significant advancements in blood cancer, impacting those affected by the disease.

Story

I am Cycling 500 km in 4 days from Greenwich Park, London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, alongside 14 colleagues from Siemens Healthineers and a wider group of up to 300 cyclists of all abilities. The event takes place from Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th June 2023. As a representative of the Siemens Healthineers Team, I am riding to support one of our company's charity of choice; Cure Leukaemia.

Cure Leukaemia is a great cause that helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.

Cure Leukaemia invest £1,000,000 each year into 12 blood cancer centres across the UK to form the national Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network. Specialist research nurses employed as a result of this funding at centres in Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Nottingham, Oxford, Southampton, Guy's and St Thomas' and UCL will open and run clinical trials of pioneering and potentially life saving treatments for blood cancer.
