Andy 's Team HIIT Man's Mental Health Fundraiser

My name is Andy, I'm a loving Dad to Izzie and my Partner Colette. I am also the owner of Team Hiitman.
Team Hiitman was created shortly after we got put into the first lockdown, it was just me at first doing live Instagram workouts, like most the lockdown hit me hard and I knew I wasn't the only one who would be struggling.
In April 2020 shortly after the first national lockdown I
started free live workouts, the reason I started these workouts is because working out has always been a happy place for me mentally and physically. I was so nervous and anxious about completing live workouts but I knew that it would make me mentally stronger but what pushed me through those feelings was knowing how I
could positively impact other people’s lives during the pandemic.
I continued with my live workouts and from that day on it
grew and more people got involved, I was not only helping myself, but I was helping so many people within the community even as far as America – my aim was to set out and help people during a worldwide pandemic and I feel I succeeded, I have since continued to grow and build several teams who are now part of my HIIT Camp community.
The past year has been a huge strain on everyone’s mental health and the pandemic has massively impacted so many charity organisations due to the restrictions in place, as a thank you for all their hard work and dedication to the people of our community, my good friend and team member Demi Ball and i have come up with the idea of raising money for “Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind Charity” and also “In loving Memory of Christopher Bromley” who sadly lost his life in March 2020 due to mental health.
As a TEAM we are hoping to raise more awareness of mental health as mental health awareness increases, the chances for early intervention could reduce the risk of suicide.
Team HIIT Man and his teams will be carrying out numerous charity events from June 2021 – September 2021, the team members will be taking part in 1 or more events to raise money for MIND Charity.
The proposed charity events are;
- 27th June 2021 - Completing Yorkshire 3 Peaks
- 10th July - 40 Mile Walk Mainly canals, starting Macclesfield train station to Castlefield bowl then back to Denton, finishing at the Fletchers Arms
- 8th August 2021 - Climbing Mount Snowdon
- 29th August 2021 - 90 minute HIIT Camp Work out in the local park
- 26th September 2021 - Manchester 10K - Marathon
We are also aiming to raise awareness of mental health and the impact it has on people’s lives.
Awareness is a form of education. The more you know, the more power you have. Knowledge is power. This power can create a positive effect in our community. Awareness is key for understanding what mental health is and how families can receive the help they need. Public knowledge is important in accessing community resources. Lack of awareness of mental health is not just “their” problem, it is our problem as a community. Community awareness for mental health reduces stigma.
Mental health awareness should not only be for a day or two or even a month. We must be informed about it because it can easily happen to someone close to us.
Community awareness for mental health reduces stigma. These are negative labels that have been attached due to the lack of awareness. Raising awareness can reduce misconceptions.
Thank you from every single member of Team Hiitman!
