Story

Team JCL London Marathon fundraiser for British Tinnitus Association backstory:

At the start of 2020 our eldest son, Ewan, sustained a concussion injury which has left him with a collection of life-changing symptoms-one of which is Tinnitus.

Ewan struggles with a very loud and 24/7 tinnitus and the hearing in his right ear has been impacted.  We knew very little of how to help.

With the help of the BTA's relentless positivity, commitment and expert knowledge Ewan is working hard to get to know these new & disruptive elements of his life.  BTA has also allowed us all (two little brothers included) to have, at the very least, a better understanding of what our son is experiencing.

Being a small charity means that every penny counts and as a family we have been taken aback at just how many people live with the symptoms of tinnitus, and how different it can be for everyone.

In August James ran 100 miles for an amazing charity, but what this also did was give Ewan a boost as he & his bike became dad’s pacemaker, lap counter - reason to get up and out after a day in work

So for this reason we are Team JCL❤️

James is running #the40thrace London Marathon to fundraise for @britishtinnitus who have been such a helpful source of information & support for us

So, on Sunday 4th October at The Haining, Selkirk if you see a man built for rugby looking like every lap hurts, supported by a teenager matching the duration of the marathon with time on his bike - be aware that he is most definitely doing it with his dad hat on and feel free to throw a few extra pennies in the collection buckets or give an extra cheer of motivation!

With our love and thanks for your kind donation,

James, Beth, Ewan, Gethin & Finley Cameron-Lyle

The British Tinnitus Association is the only national charity specialising in tinnitus support. Their vision is a world where no one suffers from tinnitus. They receive no money directly from the government, so are 100% reliant on the generosity and support of members of the public and grant-making organisations to be able to support people with tinnitus across the UK.All of their work is paid for by the generosity of supporters like you.
