Story

JMC’s Epic 33 Peaks MedEquip4Kids Charity Challenge

JMC is celebrating 33 years of business by undertaking a mammoth physical challenge in a bid to raise over £8,000 for local children’s charity MedEquip4Kids. A brave group of employees are in gruelling training for a 35-mile, 14,500ft hike across 33 peaks in the Lake District in just 24 hours.

Our social and charitable arm, Team JMC, is leading the expedition on 10th and 11th May 2013 to encourage donations to MedEquip4Kids in Prestwich, which provides critical paediatric medical equipment and facilities for hospitals and community health teams in the Salford area.

Andrew Burgess, managing director at JMC, says: “We pledged to raise £8,000 in the current financial year (to the end of June) and we’re already over halfway there. To help us crack our target we have decided to do something epic, and the fact we’re celebrating 33 years of successful business in 2013 inspired us to aim high with the 33 peaks challenge.”

Members of Team JMC recently completed a 7-hour snowy training hike around Great Langdale Valley in the Lake District, and will continue with a series of similarly strenuous treks ahead of May’s challenge.

Andrew adds: “It’s been a great year for the business so far with record turnover and the achievement of the highest possible three-star status from Best Companies in February, now we’re hoping to reach great heights with this huge charity challenge.”
