Update 2020

Since then, as a family, we had decided to really focus on getting Leo well, both physically and mentally, so as he could try to carve out a fantastic and healthier life for himself. 

As I write this in 2020, during the pandemic, Leo has made awesome strides in his graphic design and especially his animation skills. Disney Pixar needs to have him on their radar (and that's not just a very boastful mum talking there - he really is talented). 

It seems the parts of his brain which were damaged by the radiotherapy, meant that academic life and all the learning disabilities which came with it, have made school somewhat challenging. We knew that if Leo survived, life could be different from what we'd envisaged and how his peers would be able to express themselves and thrive in school.

However, given he's a stubborn so-and-so, as we well know from his grit and survival from super-aggressive cancer, Leo has found his own journey to thriving in life. He has spent much of lockdown, literally locked down in his office, self-teaching all sorts of animations techniques including jiggle physics. 

We've been in shielding mode with Leo as he's classed as extremely vulnerable, however, we've all taken to it pretty well and are all seeing this pandemic for the awesome opportunities it's giving us to be more, do more and live more!

Our current fundraising strategy

At the start of 2020, we had decided to relaunch the Celebration Ball this year and had been set to put the deposit down on the hotel and ballroom...only for COVID to be upon us.

I, therefore, decided that if we can't meet up, how about I raise money doing what I do best? I coach and train business owners and entrepreneurs on how to hire really well and develop happy teams.

It's these business owners who have been dipping into their pocket this year to donate in exchange for my live online interactive training in partnership with the British Library. I am a formal partner with their Business and IP Centre, and I am so proud of the generosity of my fellow entrepreneurs in giving CLIC Sargent a chance to support families who have both COVID and a childhood cancer diagnosis to contend with.
