Story

We are fund-raising for four different charities in memory of Max - please see our team page by following the linked text above "In memory of: Maxwell Quilter".

After Max died Gail and I were in no shape to think about what would happen next.  Fortunately we were approached by a specialist nurse (Laura) who explained we had the option of going to stay at Naomi's House.

This amazing facility offers respite and end of life care to families.  We were met by Liz who told us we were able to stay there with Max for as long as we needed in a comfortable and supportive environment.  They provide food, a place to stay, counselling, nursing staff, support for siblings and expert advice on the 'what next'.  Their Chaplain Mark offered to help plan Max's cremation and officiate a service for him.

We were able to bring Megan to stay with us and take the time and space to begin to come to terms with what had happened until we were ready to return home.

The support they offer doesn't end when you leave - we are able to return and make use of their services and facilities, as well as commemorate Max's time there with beautiful touches like adding his face to their wall.

Almost all of this is funded through charitable donations.
