Story

As many of you know, our gorgeous 17 year old Emily was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in February this year.  Like many other families, this came out of the blue with little warning…other than perhaps the usual teenage ‘symptoms’ ...and with zero regard for the up and coming party in London she had planned during half term!!!

What has followed is some serious life lessons for Emily and while living life to the full remains her focus (note the reference to the party above!!) she now does so with the added ‘bonus’ of daily glucose testing and insulin injections.

What surprised us was how little we all knew about Type 1 Diabetes, the impact on Emily and how we can support her in this journey - something we want to do our part in changing!

SO, with a little persuasion (application submitted and he got the registration email at work) we are going to be taking part in the
South Coast Challenge, a 100K route over 2 days from Eastbourne to Arundel on Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, raising money and awareness for Diabetes UK.

We will keep you all updated on our training journey –the highs and inevitable lows – but with commitment and determination we will get to the end and overcome the hurdles along the way! Emily has shown us that you can take on anything and is our true inspiration - we are so proud of her!

We hope to raise as much money as possible for Diabetes UK and the Target is set for a reason – 1460 represents the minimum number of injections Emily will have every year – so anything that you can donate, will really help a very worthy cause!

A huge thank you in advance and any training tips gratefully received too!!!!!
