Story

We are two teams of aunties, uncles and family friends of Oscar Knox, who died from neuroblastoma in May 2014 when he was five years old. We are running the Team Relay in this years Belfast Marathon on 30 April 2023 to raise money for the Oscar Knox Fund. Your donations will go towards supporting research on this devastating childhood cancer - please help us to reach our target!

Team 2: Carmel Stewart, Martina McMenamin,  Aine Herron, Niall Murray, Michael Herron

Neuroblastoma affects mostly babies and children under 5 years old. It has one of the lowest survival rates of all childhood cancers despite intense and aggressive treatment. Approximately 110 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma in the UK and Ireland each year. Almost half will die, and those who do survive will suffer the horrific consequences of highly toxic treatment.

All money raised by the Oscar Knox Fund will be ring-fenced by Solving Kids’ Cancer to help find and fund promising therapies for children who are fighting this disease right now, and in the future.

"Oscar didn’t die because he had cancer; he died because we ran out of options to treat it." [Leona and Stephen Knox]
