Kiya Survivors offers education, therapy, support and love to children with special needs living in severe poverty, abused and abandoned children in Peru.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always been passionate about helping others and feel very privileged to be part of this worthwhile project. In August 2020 we will be going to Peru to build bathrooms for families identified as being in need and are hoping to raise enough money to buy 4 wheel chairs for young people who desperately need them and support other young people that we will meet at the Mama Cocha centre through giving our time, love and attention; all of which will be a challenging and rewarding experience for all. As a team, we will be paying for all of our own building materials as part of the project cost, however, we need to raise funds for projects like the wheelchairs and we need your support!

As a teacher at The Almuñecar International School in Spain, I am linking with the charity ,Kiya Survivors, to embark upon a wonderful project that will not only directly support a number of individuals but which will also provide a forum for us, as a school to understand some of the global issues concerning poverty, attitudes towards children with special educational or  disability needs and also empower the students to become active participants in society.

Founder and Director of the charity, and mother to two of our students , Suzy Butler, has had an incredibly positive impact on the young lives  of hundreds of children living in Peru without the care and basic needs that every child deserves and has the right to. https://kiyasurvivors.org/  We believe in the work that this charity does and want to make this a meaningful and worthwhile ongoing project for not only the team who are making the trip to Peru next summer, but for all the students at AIS  through empathy, understanding and empowerment.

We will be holding a number of fund raising events throughout the year, as a school, as a team and also as individuals. All donations and support are welcome at any point throughout the year, it would be great if we can meet the target before we go so we can ensure the impact of the donations when we are on project!

Thank you for reading & your support

Gemma, Suzy, Lainy, Bruno, Cody, Misha & Molly :-)
