Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2019 · 29 November 2019 to 1 December 2019 ·
It is with great sadness that we have to report that dear Artemis Wood lost her heroic battle with JMML in her parents' arms earlier this week.
The Rawhides will be running every step of the way in her memory.
Having reached our initial target for The Royal Marsden, we would like to encourage any new contributions to be made to Ronald Macdonald House Charities - they provided accommodation for Jody and Juliana, enabling them to be close to Artemis and making a huge difference.

Members and friends of Singapore's 'Rawhides' cycling club are putting our bikes aside for the next two months as we train for the Singapore Marathon. We are running to raise money for The Royal Marsden, who are treating Artemis Wood, the youngest daughter of fellow Rawhide member and former Singapore resident, Jody Wood.
Artemis was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMLL) in June of this year. It is a rare form of myelodysplasia but has some characteristics of leukaemia.
She has already undergone multiple operations, chemotherapy and procedures in Hampshire. notably at Southampton University Hospital and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. Artemis recently underwent a stem-cell/bone marrow transplant at The Royal Marsden, which luckily was possible given that her big sister Matilda was a match. Following that operation she has been in ICU at St George's, Tooting, but will hopefully be back at The Royal Marsden soon to continue her recovery.
If you would like to follow her treatment and progress in more detail, please sign up to her page at: www.caringbridge.org/visit/artemisalicewood
A note on the Royal Marsden: The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
