Story

Team Sapper has been supporting Help for Heroes (in various forms) since 2008. The original team was made up from cyclists. Some of us have taken part in all the big cycle challenges: others have run, walked and swum.

This year, Team Sapper has entered a team of three in the Dart River 10 kilometre Swim (www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/event/dart-10k-2019) to follow-up last year’s successful swim by Martin and Charlotte Snead. The Dart 10k is arguably the finest, 10k swim on the open water calendar and 2019 is its tenth year. It has grown from 200 swimmers to 1600. There is a slight flow with the swimmers: a combination of the river and the ebb-tide.

Our team members are:

Martin Snead - Swam Dart 10K last year. Training hard despite his busy job as an eye surgeon.

Kate Dolphin - Ultra-Marathon Runner & Long-distance swimmer. Training hard in open water, lakes and rivers as well as gardener and mother. Running too!

We would like to raise £5,000 to support Help for Heroes. The charity’s work will continue for many years, even though UK is not involved in any large-scale military operations just now.

Every day, seven people leave the Armed Forces with life-changing injuries. Many struggle, meaning they and their families need specialist help to aid recovery from wounds both visible and hidden. Your donation allows Help for Heroes to continue providing vital support, now and in the future. Thank you for supporting us, Help for Heroes and all those who need them.
