A team of six incredible people will take part in a marathon indoor rowing event to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Ann Atkins, Anna Diamond, Joe White, Chris Donnolly, Tim Sherrif and Simon Eade will EACH be rowing an incredible distance of 42,195m in this test of endurance on Saturday 19 April 2014 at 1130am in Touchwood Shopping Centre, Solihull.

Ann, a volunteer for the brain tumour charity, and the other rowers all train or work at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull and are coached by Ali Seal from Seal Personal Training. They are doing this row as part of the Brain Tumour Charity’s new fundraising initiative “Row for it” which Ann and Ali helped develop. They have been inspired by Ann’s 12-year old daughter, Iona, who has had a rare brain tumour since the age of 5-years.

Ann and her friends and family have been fundraising and raising awareness about Brain Tumours since their daughter was diagnosed in 2007. Unfortunately, Brain tumour survival rates has remained unchanged in 40-years and is currently only 16%, which is lagging way behind most other cancers.

Brain Tumours will kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer, so it is vital that proper research is funded to help improve treatment and increase the survival rate. The Brain Tumour Charity is leading the way in this research and we are grateful to everyone that helps this charity to fund this work.

42,195 meters is a challenging distance to row and it will take several hours to complete. Please show your support of these amazing people on the day or by donating online.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, our blistered hands and our very sore glutus maximus!!! x
