Sentient International: Walking the Island for Cancer Research UK
At #TeamSentient, we believe that no one should face cancer alone so together, as a team we want to do our bit to help beat it.
Over the next couple of months, #TeamSentient are lacing up their boots and taking on a series of walking challenges across the Isle of Man, all in aid of Cancer Research UK.
From coastal paths to community relays, we're covering serious ground for a cause that touches almost every one of us in some way or another.
Here's what we've got planned:
8th August: Mitre2Mitre - walking from The Mitre in Kirk Michael to The Mitre in Ramsey, the team and a couple of our Jurassic friends will walk 9.7 miles in the north of the Island collecting donations along the way. If you are out and about, say hello, give them a beep and don't forget to donate.
29th August: Relay For Life Isle of Man - a community event that brings people together to honour those affected by cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember those we've lost, all while raising vital funds for research. The team will be walking for 24 hours at the NSC in Douglas for this endurance event. There will be fancy dress, fundraising games, a raffle and plenty of team spirit...oh and lots and lots of steps!
6th September: Coast 2 Coast — Another island crossing, adding more miles and more momentum to our fundraising total. Some of the team will be walking from Douglas to Peel in the West of the Island in this 12 mile walk. Whilst the event is organised by Sight Matters so the entry fee will go to the local blind charity, sponsorship and donations of support through our JustGiving page will continue to go to Cancer Research UK - two charities supported in one - what a double whammy!
13th September: End 2 End Isle of Man - walking the length of the island, coast to coast, one member of Team Sentient will push himself further as he walks the 39.22 miles for a cause that is bigger than any one of us.
Whether we're walking through the night at Relay For Life or covering the length of the island on foot, every step is for the people we know and love who've been affected by cancer - and for the millions more who will be diagnosed in the future.
Cancer Research UK funds life-saving research that helps more people survive cancer and live better lives. Every pound raised brings us closer to a future where cancer is beaten.
We'd be incredibly grateful for your support whether that's a donation, a kind word of encouragement, or simply spreading the word. Every bit helps us go further, together.
Thank you for backing #TeamSentient. Let's walk this island, mile by mile, for a cure.
Together, we are beating cancer.
