Raptör - The Ride for the Insurance Industry:

With less than 2 months to go there is still a lot of preparation to be done – Kate’s bike has only just arrived, Georgina is still struggling with cleats and George doesn’t even have pedals yet! However, we are training as best we can for what is going to be a far greater challenge than any of expected when we first tentatively signed up… The route is not the “normal” London to Paris via Dover, instead it is via Portsmouth, St Malo, Mayenne and Chartres – and over 550km (340 miles).

It is worth adding that none of us are experienced cyclists, just 3 credit insurance brokers that want to raise some money for a great cause (and didn’t appreciate the scale of the task that we had committed to)…

The Raptor Insurance Bike Ride 2022 raises money for a brilliant charity – Action Medical Research who have been supporting research to develop breakthrough treatments, vaccinations and cures for children for 70 years. Action are the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. Since its foundation Action has helped to beat polio, fight meningitis, prevent stillbirths and develop ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.

The Raptor Ride website boldly claims that you can “network from the saddle”, however, we are just hoping that we can stay upright on it for the duration of the ride! If we can hit our target of GBP 6,000 it will make the three and half days of chamois cream and energy bar misery all worth it…
