Croyde Ocean Triathlon · 11 July 2015

We are a charity working to promote and provide community led welcome for displaced people. Our aim is to provide the type of friendship and practical support that anyone would hope to have if they were forced, under such circumstances, to start over in a new and unfamiliar place.

Story

Team Ventia is heading to North Devon on Saturday 11 July to take part in the first ever Croyde Ocean Triathlon in a bid to make our sweat and tears mean more than just a finish time.

It's the first time many of us have attempted something as exciting (and daunting!) as a triathlon. Some of us are taking on the challenge as individuals and some of us are teaming up to share the joy and the pain!

We want to raise some serious money for the event's four named charities - Surfers Not Street Children, Surfers Against Sewage, Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club, and Children's Hospice South West (see below for more info in the charities). The money you donate will be divided equally between the four named charities.

This is where you come in! This is your way of taking part.

Please give generously. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell you work colleagues and let's see if together we can make a real difference.

CHARITIES:
Surfers Against Sewage
(SAS) is an environmental charity protecting the UK’s oceans, waves and beaches for all to enjoy safely and sustainably, via community action, campaigning, volunteering, conservation, education and scientific research.

Surfers Not Street Children is a Durban based surfing team with a difference. It is a team of ex-street children transitioning their lives and inspiring other kids to do the same. Through its advocacy and campaigns, SNSC is committed to changing the way that society perceives and treats street children.

Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club
Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club promotes surf lifesaving and teaches sea safety skills to children and adults within a friendly, supportive team atmosphere. We swim, we paddle and surf on our rescue boards, we get out on the water in surf skis and our surf boat and we get fit on the beach. We help our members gain fitness, stamina and important knowledge to help them enjoy the ocean environment with confidence and safety.

Children’s Hospice South West
Children’s Hospice South West offers specialist care to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across the whole of the South West. At our hospices, parents find they can be mum and dad again, spending precious time together as a family, enjoying the facilities with home from home comforts to create special family memories as well as receive specialist medical care, emotional support, holistic care and bereavement support. Your donations help us make the most of short and precious lives.
