Story

Andy Walder - My Story

Two years ago I suffered an unexpected and traumatic brain haemorrhage. For a third of people who suffer such an event it is fatal, for another third it results in a life changing physical or mental disability. The other third survive and go on to live a normal life.

I was in the final third. Thanks to the highly skilled surgeons at Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge, my life was saved and prevented me from suffering any permanent damage.

My family and I are indebted to the surgeons and ward staff who cared for me and of course they do it day in, day out for thousands of people every year across the whole of East Anglia. People who have suffered a haemorrhage, a stroke, a traumatic accident resulting in a brain trauma, have all been helped and supported by the Addenbrooke's Neuro Surgical Team. They are quite simply brilliant at what they do. But like all hospital departments they are short of funding and need our support in order to continue their high standards of care and indeed to push it even further.

Team Walder - Our Story

As a family, we are taking on a series of challenges and events. Andy and Jasmine are trekking the Inca Trail in Peru in May 2018 and Frankie is running the Virgin Money London Marathon 2018 and completing a sky dive! Along with Frankie, Karen is organising our 'Act for Addenbrooke's Charity Spring Ball', both in April 2018. Other events organised by us include quiz nights, golf days, and charity cricket matches!

Thank you for taking the time to read Team Walder's story and we hope you are able to donate to our worthwhile cause. Any amount will be gratefully received by us and this fantastic hospital.

Thank you!

With love from,

Team Walder
