UPDATE 18/09
We did it! It was great fun and all team members returned to base without injury. We managed 22nd out of 49 teams so quite pleased with that! The results are on the web site (www.bone-shaker.co.uk).There are also some pictures at www.prosportphotos.com (we were team number 307).
Very many thanks to all our sponsors for helping us to raise money for this very worthwhile charity. Thanks again - and if you want a good day out (with a bit of hard work involved!) we can recommend the Boneshaker...!

People First International is a charity in Bihar, India's poorest state, which rescues poor, abandoned and orphaned children by giving them an education and a helping hand so that they can grow up as full members of society. The focus is on education so that they can help themselves, and the children make the decisions about whether they want to be helped or not.
To give you an idea, the three boys in the picture are named Pinto, Mukesh and Sanjay ( from left to right) . They are fairly regular attendees at the Rescue Junction Children's centre in Gaya. The centre provides food ,shelter and education to Platform children and Street Kids such as these. The charity also provides support and conselling on the station, and gives blankets and warm clothing in the winter.
If you'd like to see more you can visit the PFI web site (though it's a bit out of date as it's maintained by a volunteer!): www.india-peoplefirst.org
So, that's what it's for. This is what we are doing:
The Boneshaker is a Duathlon, consisting of a 5K run, a 20K off-road ( = very hilly and muddy!) cycle ride and a 5K run. Sounds tough? Well that's why we've entered a team! Helen is setting the pace on the first 5K run, Richard will be attempting to avoid falling off on the bike ride and Dennis will startle us all by sprinting in for a high speed finish! For details see http://www.bone-shaker.co.uk/.
But it's all for a very good cause indeed so get out your credit cards and give generously, otherwise we'll get all hot and sweaty for nothing...
So please sponsor us now and if the money's good enough we might persuade the team to pose for a photo!
Many thanks for your support.
