Race To The North Pole

Race to the North Pole · 24 November 2021
I’ll be walking and cycling (as much as my knee replacement will let me!) in the run up to Christmas so we can raise enough money for families like mine to stay in free accommodation close to hospital this Christmas.
Young Lives vs Cancer (formally CLIC Sargent) provide practical, emotional, and financial support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
I’m sure most of you know my story, but if not - I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer when I was 8. I am exceptionally blessed to have the quality of life I do now, the chance of simply surviving 5 years post-diagnosis is currently 62% - let alone to have kept my leg!
My Dad and Sister stayed in CLIC House while I was having chemotherapy and surgeries in Oxford. It would’ve been impossible for them to stay close to us throughout my year of critical treatment without the support we received.
Young Lives vs Cancer also provide support to cancer patients who have finished treatment, which I think is brilliantly important and it’s my mission in this life to improve the landscape for the next generation of young cancer patients.
That’s why I’m challenging myself to reach 2,700 miles (as part of a team!!) before Christmas, so that other families in this position have a safe place to stay 🙂
It costs £2,700 to fill every room in all ten of the Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home on Christmas Eve. And it's 2,700 miles to the North Pole...
