The COVID-19 Support Fund · 31 December 2020 ·

The COVID-19 Support Fund was set up in response to requests from the community asking how to help our front-line care providers and the patients they serve. This emergency fund will provide critical support to Rochester Regional Health care teams.

Story

In early 2020, Ted was in Rochester General Hospital for Covid-19. The hardest part has been the restrictions on family visiting in the hospital. At first, we were heartbroken because we had no way to communicate with him. After discussing his situation, Dr. Adam Herman of Palliative Care saw our pain and Ted's need, and graciously brought his personal phone into the room so that we could see Ted and speak with him. He did this a total of 5 times while Ted was at his most gravely ill. We are so grateful to him and his team that we want to share the blessing of communication with others.

Our goal is to support the Palliative Care Team at Rochester Regional Healthcare by creating a fund to provide communication technology to all patients who need it to communicate with their loved ones, now and beyond Covid-19. Please join with Ted and Sue in fostering the healing powers of connection, and the peace brought about through the presence of loved ones, even across miles.

We are asking you to support this fund to help families communicate through barriers of distance or illness. If you would prefer to send a check to the foundation directly you can direct them to the address below. Please include in the memo “The Ted and Sue O'Brien Patient/Family Connection Fund” or include a note designating the donation.
