Rainbow Trust Children's Charity supports families who have a child with a serious or life-threatening illness. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support.

Story

Teddy was the most fantastic inspirational young lad, who made such a difference to so many young teenagers like him as well as giving hope to the parents of children who had Cancer.

He was a normal 13 year old lad when he was struck with this terrible disease. He had friends, loving family, top of his class, popular... such a waste of a life that was taken well before his time.

He was fantastic. He was getting so much better the cancer had gone and he was on the mend, walking and talking, eating like a horse, he'd done so well to learn the basics again (after his strokes and brain bleeds his learning abilities were washed away and he had to re-learn the abc's again)

Almost a year later we found out that the radiation therapy on his brain to get rid of the leukaemic cells, had been in a much higher dose than was needed, which then lead to him being completely 'locked in' and brain dead.

He was still our Ted inside, but on the outside he couldnt talk, walk, eat or move a muscle. We all had hope that he would come round, but then after 9 or so weeks of mental and emotional torture, the cancer came back.

He was given a few days to live and died on the 19th of April 2012 after battling through Leukaemia, brain surgery, 2 strokes, septicaemia, e-coli, 4 brain bleeds and radiation therapy. He died at home with family. He looked so peaceful it was almost as though he was asleep.

The reason we are donating to the Rainbow Trust, is because they have always been there for Teddy and our family, a lovely guy called Ben came round almost every day just to be with Teddy, play games, take him for a drive, go to the cinema- anything Ted wanted. He took him away for a couple of hours sometimes just to give mum and dad some time together, even if it was just to tidy the house!

We have a lot of respect for the Rainbow Trust, for the work that they do to help look after the children who are suffering with terminal or non- terminal illnesses, to support families of children with the illnesses, and to be a friend and to be there for them.

Please help us donate to the Rainbow Trust. To help others.

Rest in peace Teddy x
