Kid's Tennis challenge

Tennis challenge · 4 January 2020
Nearly 5,000 people slept rough on Christmas Day. Oasis community housing is there to reignite a hope and a future for everyone facing homelessness.
Evan, Anya and Toby and a few friends are going to do a challenge on Sunday 12th January 2020 to raise money and awareness of this charity and of the scale of the homelessness and foodbank usage in our region.
Evan and Anya became aware of people living on the streets while taking part in the mini Great North Run in 2018. This has had a profound effect on both of them but especially Anya and she is keen to raise money and awareness of this Gateshead charity that is supporting her friend. Her friend is a homeless girl living on the streets of Newcastle who we met a number of months ago and have been talking to and helping.
Toby wants to help homeless people as he feels it is unfair that some people have nothing and have to sleep in sleeping bags. He wants to help by providing food and blankets so they are warm and have food.
The children would like to do a tennis challenge! No surprises there! They want to reach 1000 hits in 2 hours and are asking for 10p per hit. If more of their friends can support this, we will have only 2 players on court hitting and will rotate players so they have a break as some of them will be as young as 5 years old.
