The last 12 months have been challenging for everyone but none more so than those carers who are supporting their loved ones with their physical or mental wellbeing.  At Blackpool Carers we support carers from the age of 5, yes 5 years old.  Our support staff have worked everyday during the pandemic to do all they can to provide stability and support to our families.

This year whilst my role has been very different due to the cancellation or postponement of our fundraising events I have had the pleasure of meeting more carers than I normally would.  They have inspired me to take on this bike ride.  If they can get up everyday and take care of their loved ones with the challenges they face then I can get up and ride a bike!!!

Do I cycle... No

Do I keep fit....No

Am I over 50... Yes

The most I have cycled so far recently.... 7.5 miles!!

I will have to do 10 times this amount for 3 days to reach the 199 miles this journey will take me and for every mile I struggle (probably 198 miles) I will be thinking of the carers.

If you could donate just £7.50 that would pay for a young carer to come to a 2 hour respite session so they can play and be children with other young carers who face the same challenges that they do. (Don't forget to tick the gift aid).
