SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Cancer kills more young people than any other illness in the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to providing expert care and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer’. They treat them as young people first, cancer patients second and everything they do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival. At the moment, for every young person Teenage Cancer Trust help, there's another they can't. Help us reach more young people with cancer by donating towards my Great North Run challenge.

I had an entry last year to celebrate my 70th birthday but my wife Trish was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkin's Lymphoma, so instead of training we had six months of Chemotherapy sessions. She is now making a full recovery and I'm back on the road !

Looking forward to running with my sons Ross & Sean, who are also running for TCT. This is the first time we have run together, should be quite competitive............the gauntlet is down !
