Glasgow to Athens 2023 · 14 July 2023 to 17 September 2023 ·
Hello! This summer I am yet again riding with Thighs of Steel in support of refugees and displaced people whatever their country of origin. This is Europe's longest charity bike ride at a total of 5,400 km, all the way from Glasgow to Athens and it’s split into 8 legs over the course of 8 weeks. I'll be joining the leg from Geneva through the Alps to Milan which is about 600km long and with an average of 2,000m climb every day. Conditions will be basic, as we will be wild camping and sharing food but it’s all for a good cause :).
Many refugees have to endure extreme hardship for months or even years so if my efforts can help ease even a fraction of that hardship I’ll be grateful. The full amount of your donation will be distributed by MASS Action to grassroots projects that support refugees in the UK, Greece and beyond (such as Khora, a social kitchen, asylum support centre and free shop for displaced people in Athens). I was part of this amazing charity event last year too and that time we jointly raised over an amazing £100,000!
This is a cause that is close to my heart. Today, according to the Red Cross, there are over 100 million displaced people in the world. 35% of this group are children. I wish governments of this world would do so much more to help these people who have had to flee their home countries often taking imaginable risks and show them the respect and humanity that they deserve.
Please support if you can. Thanking you for your kindness and generosity!
