Story
The Bear is a small church with a big vision – to be a place of homecoming for the people of Deptford. This year we are celebrating 175 years since we first opened as The Deptford Ragged School, and we're raising money for an ambitious £8 million building project so that we can continue to serve our local community in South East London.
Herne Bay in Kent was a favourite destination for day trips from the Deptford Ragged School, so our team has decided to walk home from Herne Bay to remember, to celebrate and to raise money.
