It’s 2023 and the TFE Titans are back, reinvigorated and ready to run (we think). 

After so much fun last year, the diary date was set and the recruitment drive began. Some of the original team were willing volunteers but unfortunately due to injury and circumstance we lost three of our original members. 

But fear not, with with some bribery and Fear of Missing Out, we have found three willing replacements! 

We’ve kept the Team name, added a new slogan and will be raising money for the Basingstoke Foodbank, with all donations gratefully accepted. 

This is such a worthwhilse cause, below are some recent figures to demonstrate why their work is so important and why we are looking forward to being able to support them:

- Basingstoke foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK.

- Demand for foodbanks is higher than ever before and has increased by a third in a single year, according to the Trussell Trust.

- 2,986,203 food parcels were given out by the Trussell Trust between April 2022 and March 2023.

- Over 1,000,000 of these were for children.

- More than 760,000 people used a Trussell Trust foodbank for the first time. 

- As a network, The Trussell Trust is keen to see more people helped out of crisis and fewer people needing foodbanks in the future. That’s why they and local foodbanks are working together to develop new ways to help people out of crisis through programmes like More Than Food.
