Story
Last year I challenged myself by climbing 12 Munro’s in 24 hours ( Only managed 11 but I did walk 32 odd miles in 18 hours ) ...this year I decided to take on the TGO challenge a coast to coast walk across Scotland. On May the 11th I will begin at Eileen Donan castle before crossing Scotland unsupported via my own route back to Montrose. I will walk roughly 180 miles through some of Scotland’s beautiful remote countryside. It should take me about 12 or so days.
Why have I spent the last few years dedicating my time and energy to Alzheimer Scotland you may ask?! Well quite simply my family has lost someone very special from dementia and I feel compelled to help others going through it. Dementia is such a cruel illness and caring for everyone connected with dementia requires every last penny.
Including sales of my calendars and challenges together you have helped me raise nearly £6000 and if I can reach another £500 completing this challenge I will be very pleased. I don't want to be one of those friends that is constantly asking for support in charity work but I do feel dementia is a condition that effects everyone and it is only going to get worse as the worlds population ages. Hopefully a cure is not too far away but until then charities like Alzheimer Scotland really need our support big time.
