Story

Hey

Thanks for visiting our
Thames 100 fundraising page.

We finished. In a time of 28 hours. Thanks to a lot of training and preparation everything went to plan and even the torrential rain on Friday couldn't dampen our spirits. Our help team were immense and we couldn't have done it without them, equally we wouldn't have done it without your support. So far we have raised over £23,000 which is an incredible achievement so a massive thank you to you for being part of it.

There's two days to go until we set out in our kayaks from Cricklade and I guess we're all getting a little nervous. Our fundraising total is looking more and more amazing so thanks for visiting our page and helping us beat our target.

If you could do something about the rain as well that would be great.

We have once again set out on an epic endeavour in order to raise money for our favourite charity, BDF Newlife. We are aiming to raise £20,000 to add to the £26,000 we have previously raised for them through non-stop walking and cycling challenges.

BDF Newlife operates a restricted donations policy which means we can ensure that all the money we raise goes to help disabled children where we live. Our previous challenges have already helped purchase a motorised wheelchair for 15-year-old Kayleigh Carter and a special foot splint for 12-year-old Daniel Mai.

This time we are taking to the water and are kayaking 100 miles non-stop from Cricklade, North Wiltshire, to Marlow in Bucks, portaging our kayaks around 30 locks en route (no mean feat in itself: 10 mins per lock...30 locks...do the math, it's making us hurt already).

We are currently looking at 26-30 hours of paddling and are aiming to finish in Marlow in the afternoon on Saturday 12 July. We'll certainly be there in time for a pint or two so come and join us.

Thanks very much for supporting this challenge, your sponsorship makes all those cold (yup, that is 3 inches of snow in the picture), wet, early mornings (5.00am...) on (and sometimes in, eh sam!) the river worthwhile.

Here's the financial bit: Donating through Justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. BDF Newlife will receive your money quickly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28p in every pound donated can be claimed by the charity at no cost to you. If you'd prefer to give us the money direct we can get you to sign a gift aid form and BDF can still claim that extra 28p, just ask one of the boys.
