Chris Blizzard is raising money for Tearfund
Story
After the successful completion of the Thames Trek for Tearfund in June, on Friday 2nd September, Joanne, Kit and Chris are now attempting the 54 mile triathlon (10 mile run, 10 mile kayak, 34 mile cycle), on or near to the River Thames, starting and finishing near the Tearfund main office in Teddington.
It's a huge physical, day-long challenge, pushing people way beyond their comfort zones. But it's not just for the fun and the amazing river views - with your support we're raising money for Tearfund to transform lives. Working through the local church is the most sustainable way of providing long term development in the world's poorest communities.
We have seen the suffering in Ukraine. The shockwaves from that conflict are reverberating around the world. Fuel and food prices are rising. We can feel that here in the UK, yet it is the poorest countries and communities – many of whom are already facing multiple crises – that will once again bear the brunt.
Across the greater Horn of Africa region (including Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya), a terrible hunger crisis has been building following the worst drought there since 1981 – 13 million people are experiencing severe hunger every day. Yemen and Afghanistan are also on the brink of famine. Conflict and climate change are pushing millions of people towards total disaster.
Your donation today could provide emergency relief such as food, safe water, and hygiene kits. And, in the long term, we will continue working through local churches so that whole communities can lift themselves out of poverty and build resilience, to bring them hope and a future.
